If you want to make a complaint when you receive the decision

If we cannot issue a certificate of marital status to you because you do not meet the criteria for a certificate of marital status and we are unable to waive the conditions on respectively:

  • The consent from your legal guardian to get married
  • The conditions on the administration of jointly owned assets between you and a deceased partner
  • The condition on your legal residency in Denmark

You can send a complaint to the National Social Appeal Board. To do so, yoy must send the complaint to the State Administration and we will then forward it to the National Social Appeal Board.

You will get instructions on how to make a complaint when we are sending the decision to you.

You cannot make a complaint in the following situation

According to the Danish Act on the Formation and Dissolution of Marriage, you cannot make a complaint in a situation, where the State Administration has reached the conclusion that the primary aim of getting married is to obtain a residency right in Denmark or in an EU- or EEA member state or in Switzerland, a so-called bogus marriage/marriage of convenience.
